Also check whether harms were reported with the same care as benefits. A treatment result is incomplete if side effects, drop-outs due to adverse events, or long term risks are barely mentioned.

A useful habit is to underline every claim in the discussion, then ask: Where is the number that supports this? If you cannot find it in the tables or figures, the claim is marketing, not measurement.

Relevance: would these participants look like you in clinic?

Check the inclusion and exclusion criteria carefully. Were participants older or younger than you would expect? Were people with multiple conditions excluded? Were participants already receiving high quality usual care, making extra benefit harder to achieve?
